Hi Daphne, I have tried to contact you about the Howes family again via the family history site but it failed, Now I have the birth cert for Julia, I have been able to find some of her family at least one brother was born In Paris, France.
So her father George Howes was working all over the place, but would love more information on where he was working when Julia was born.
I have just found out today that Julia died in Southhampton, this still make me wonder
about her in the 1911 census occupation Stewardess, but i cannot find any records on this.
if you do have any more information on the Howes Family would love to find out.

Sounds great to me. We've not found a really good fish & chip shop anywhere near. There are a couple of passable ones in Tilehurst, but it would be nice to have something better, and more local.

Been reading with interest all the above comments and would like to say that my husband and I would love to open a Fish and Chip shop in Theale. We have lived in the village since 2002 and have always said how much the village needs one.
My husband is a chef and I have a background in retail and recently we took our children to the seaside up north where we had Fabulous fish and chips and we decided there and then to try and see if it can be done!!
Our dream would be for it to be our 'Family Business' serving delicious fresh deliciously battered fish, great chips and all the usual favourites!
We would strive for consistancy and hope to build a regular clientele....

Will keep you informed of our quest...

More interest! Queries from a volunteer group about how to get involved, additional planting site has been identified - access/permission being sought, a fund raising idea suggested and TPC discussed the project at the last meeting and liked it. If anyone has planting location ideas please let me know, so the planned areas are in the recreation ground and by the TPC offices, the new area is towards the M4 end of the village. More info soon.
