Resurfacing of the Bypass and of the A4 towards Newbury start on Monday 17th October.

There will be contraflows on the bypass and temporary traffic lights on the A4 between the A340 roundabout and the Spring Inn. The traffic lights will be in operation in off-peak hours only. Coning-off on the bypass started today (Sunday 16th).

The slip-road from the bypass to Station Road is closed for the next 6 weeks.

Any reason why the Newbury bound carriageway is completely re-surfaced whilst the Reading bound one appears to be a patchwork quilt ??

In a word, no. The information I got from West Berks Council officers was that both carriageways would be resurfaced.
