Hi.

Dog fouling was highlighted as an issue to be addressed from the Theale's Future survey and has subsequently been included in the Theale's Future Action Plan (reference D1).

The actions from this objective are to "Educate dog walkers" and to "Get new dog bins installed".

Before dog litter bin installation can take place, there needs to be an understanding of where the issue occurs and how frequently.

To that end I suggest we build up a record of where and when dog littering occurs and can then make a proposal to the Dog Wardens within the Countryside team at West Berks Council.

I am happy to get the ball rolling with what I see and welcome others to add their observations:

Thu 10/06/2010 - High Street, outside Brewery Court
Thu 17/06/2010 - Path between High Street and Swallowfield Gardens (next to Dog Fouling notice, ironically)
Sat 19/06/2010 - Station Road, just north of the overpass

Regards,
There IS a problem and it is caused by bad workmanship and bad planning with more than a touch of inconsideration. Lets start off with vehicle access to properties, The Council lowers the kerb and forms a ramp ACCROSS the pavement, two of these together near The Crown, try navigating those in a wheel chair! There are several more of these around Theale, outside of what was Theale Motors Showrooms on High St is another exsample. Pavement camber, esentialy to drain rainwater, but the run off is so severe at some places as to propel wheelchairs into the gutter, on the corner opposite The Crown (again?), along High St's Angel Court area too, particularly when raining. Then there are surface repairs from works on the services beneath the pavements, designed it seems to trip the unwary pedestrian. This may seem quite a RANT and I suppose it is, But you might be more sympathetic, if it was YOU trying to propel a wheelchair around these pavements in Theale, or a mum trying to push a pram and infants to the surgury along Englefield roads pavement!

Hello, I live on Church Street and I wondered if anyone knows who to contact regarding the grassed area in front of houses number 7 to 25, and also the parking on the other side of the grassed area (on the main road). I understood when residents started having to pay for the privilege of parking outside their own house (as we do) that small bollards were going to be planted on the grassed area, to prevent lorrys & vans driving across it and also prevent parking on it. Does anyone share the same view as me, that the area is now looking terrible because of all the tyre marks !
In addition, the cars that park on the other side of the grassed area on the main road are a complete hazard when we are trying to get out of the small road we live in on Church Street, which are the houses set back from the grassed area. The yellow lines should be drawn on the road as well to stop this hazard, and you just cannot see to get out onto the main road and I have frequently almost had an accident due to the blind spot. It seems that the only people who are suffering from the parking restricitions are the residents that the restrictions were suposed to help ! Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks to all who viewed my input and those who replied. I now have a fuller picture.

Before the survey of the village, another poll was done and the response was exactly the same.

As I understand it, no further work has been done and we are starting with an enthusiastic response and a blank sheet.

The only pool that I know of in the area was at Theale Green School (An open air one) and that has been filled in and concreted over.

I will try to find out why

There are many areas concerning the production of a pool, including
Finance, Siteing, planning and architecture, staffing, upkeep, health and safety etc.

Looks like a mountain to climb, but it is worth pursuing, so watch this space !!!

Swimming Pool in/near Theale (if viable)

I am investigating (again) on behalf of the Theale Steering group to assess the viability of a swimming pool in this area.

As a total start could you comment as below or indeed on any further feelings you may have about this suggestion.

I know many comments have been made but it would be good to see your positive or negative positions and also get an idea of the strength of feeling for such a project now.

I know someone else was involved so apologies if I have jumped the gun a bit and should this be so, can we work together on it ?

Thanks
